This chapter showcases a project management example of building a new house. Instead of using the generic Task 1, Task 2, and so forth, as in previous chapters, this home-building example provides a more hands-on illustration of the PM module in PEAT, now that you are familiar with its algorithms and functionalities.
The example that follows assumes that a couple has decided to build their new dream home in northern California. The 0.5-acre land they are planning on purchasing costs $800,000. This is pending final negotiations and contract. Meanwhile, the couple is working with a general contractor to develop a plan to build their new home.
